Playing Casino Games Online from Ontario
Elements Casino Mohawk sits where Guelph Line meets the 401. Online play happens somewhere else entirely: on a screen, under provincial rules. This page explains who runs Ontario's online market, how to check a site, and what the home page's ad button is.
How Ontario's Online Market Works
Ontario's online market has a regulator and a manager. The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario, the AGCO, is the provincial gaming regulator. It administers the Gaming Control Act, 1992, sets the Registrar's Standards for Internet Gaming and registers operators.
iGaming Ontario, or iGO, conducts and manages internet gaming offered through private operators. It holds the operating agreements with them. That market opened on April 4, 2022. iGO became a stand-alone agency on May 12, 2025.
OLG sits outside that market. It runs its own online casino at OLG.ca, and iGO does not run it. The age rule is simple: 19 for casinos, slot facilities and online casino play.
Checking a Site Before You Play
Before you sign up anywhere, look the site up. iGaming Ontario keeps a public directory of registered operators and their gaming sites, and the AGCO links to it. That list is how you check whether an operator is legal in Ontario. If a site you used before has dropped off it, the site has most likely stopped operating in Ontario.
Advertising works under tight rules too. AGCO internet gaming standards prohibit advertising inducements. The exceptions are the operator's own site and direct marketing the player agreed to. That is one reason this guide shows no offers.
About the Ad Button on the Home Page
The home page carries one paid link, marked Ad. It goes to an online casino run by a partner. That partner is not this site, not OLG.ca and not the province. The partner can change, and this guide may earn a commission when readers use the link.
This page has no such button, and neither do the other inner pages. Nothing here is a verdict on any partner. For any operator at all, the iGaming Ontario directory described above is the place to check.
Habits Worth Keeping Online
- 01Set a deposit limit before your first deposit, not halfway through a session. Play only with money already set aside for entertainment.
- 02Take breaks away from the screen, and pick a stopping time before you log in.
- 03BetGuard, at BetGuard.ca, is Ontario's centralized self-exclusion from all regulated online gaming sites. It launched on May 14, 2026, for people 19 and over, with terms from 6 months to 5 years.
- 04If it stops being fun, call ConnexOntario at 1-866-531-2600. The line is free, confidential and open 24/7.
