From Guelph Line to Durham Live
You know Elements Casino Mohawk, the room at Guelph Line and the 401. Pickering Casino Resort sits on the far side of the GTA, at 888 Durham Live Avenue in Pickering. It is 85 km east-northeast of Mohawk. That is a straight line, not road distance.
OLG opened the casino on July 26, 2021. The 275-room hotel followed in January 2023, and the resort held its grand opening on April 26, 2023. There is also a 2,500-person venue called The Arena.
Great Canadian runs it, as it runs Mohawk. Whether the drive is worth it depends on what you want from the night. The phone is 289-539-0552, toll-free 1-833-629-0552.
Labour Disruption: What Is Closed
Great Canadian's update of October 2, 2026, read by the editors on October 8, covers a labour disruption. Unifor reported a strike by nearly 900 workers at Casino Ajax and Pickering Casino Resort from July 31, 2026. The resort stays open 24/7. Its poker room, Starbucks, the Casual and Copperhorn restaurants and the hotel pool are temporarily closed.
Tables run on reduced hours. From Wednesday to Saturday, baccarat runs 24 hours. Blackjack and roulette run from noon to 4 a.m. on those days. From Sunday to Tuesday, all tables run from noon to 4 a.m. each day. Vehicles pass the picket line about one per minute.
Check Great Canadian's update page before you set out on the 401. Things can change between updates.
Poker, Parking and the Door
In normal times, the poker room sits on the hotel's third floor and is open 24/7. Parking is complimentary, in a multi-level garage and an outdoor lot. Great Canadian's Casino Shuttle also serves Pickering, by reservation. It picks up at Markville on Bullock Drive, Milliken GO on Redlea Avenue and Scarborough Town Centre.
At the door, bring valid original government-issued photo ID plus a secondary photo ID. Entry is 19 and over. The resort is part of Great Canadian Rewards, the same card you carry at Mohawk. The guide does not list slot or table counts.
